You don’t have to age in a way that makes you feel sad everytime that you look in the mirror. One of the places that people tend to show the earliest signs of aging is on the forehead. If you feel like your Botox is only doing so much, we may recommend a surgical procedure called a brow lift. During your brow lift, one of our surgeons will surgically lift and tighten the skin on the forehead to help restore a more youthful look. As one of the most important parts of any procedure, it’s important that you know what you can expect from recovery and how you can speed it up. Let’s take a closer look at three ways that you can make your brow lift recovery go smoother. Are you ready to learn more? If so, read on.
The worst part about healing from any sort of surgery is the itchiness. As a normal part of the healing process, many patients experience some itchiness that may even persist for several months. Even though you may want to grab a bottle brush and scratch your incisions to find some sort of relief, it’s best if you don’t scratch them at all.
Clean Your Incisions
Before you leave our office, we will give you detailed instructions on how you should clean your incisions to avoid any infections. When cleaning your incisions, make sure that you don’t apply too much pressure because you don’t want to irritate the area. If you notice a lot of puss, inflammation, or redness around your incisions, contact our office to make sure that you don’t have an infection.
One of the most common side effects of a brow lift or forehead lift is swelling. In fact, a lot of patients experience swelling that goes all the way up their cheeks, which is normal, but it should subside within a couple of days. To help ease swelling and pain, take some non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen or Motrin.
Before we send you home from surgery, we will give you detailed instructions on what to do once you get home. If you want to learn more about brow lift surgery or brow lift recovery, contact us at our Huntington office and call (631) 423-1000.
