The appearance of the first noticeable signs of aging on your face and neck can be shocking. Luckily, Associated Plastic Surgeons & Consultants in Huntington, Long Island has the solution to your aging woes; facelift surgery.
What is Facelift Surgery?
Our team is proud to offer a minimal incision rhytidectomy, also known as the MACS lift. Although the facelift procedure has been around for decades, we use only the latest proven techniques in order to ensure optimal results. Long Island Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Elliot Duboys, has extensive experience creating gorgeous, youthful-looking faces through our innovative facelift techniques.
Prior to having surgery, Dr. Duboys will complete a comprehensive evaluation, making sure that you are a good candidate for this procedure. Facelift surgery usually takes three to four hours. Dr. Duboys uses general anesthesia for the procedure to make sure you are comfortable during the entire time.
Am I Candidate for a Facelift?
The ideal candidate is someone with realistic expectations. A relatively healthy individual who shows signs of facial aging, such as descent of the skin of the face with jowls. Redundant neck skin can be taken care of at the time of surgery that restores the normal contour of the neck.
The best outcome tends to be achieved in patients who have a strong, well-defined bony structure and skin that still retains some elasticity. During your consultation, Dr. Duboys will carefully examine your face including the skin and underlying structures and discuss possibilities available to you.
- First, Dr. Duboys makes an incision along the hairline.
- Then we tighten muscles and remove fat from the neck and face.
- Next, we pull the skin back and remove any excess skin.
- You will need to keep your bandages on for one to three days following the procedure.
- Although you may experience some slight bruising and swelling, we will guide you through the recovery process.
- Most patients are able to return to work within ten days.
- A minimal amount of discomfort is expected, but in the rare case that you need a bit more, medication will be prescribed to ease any discomfort you may experience after the surgery.
Where is the Surgery Performed?
The facelift surgery is performed at our fully certified ambulatory care facility, or if the patient prefers then the surgery can be done at a local hospital.
Facelift Surgery Risks
All surgery involves risks with a low incidence. Asymmetry, bleeding, infection and nerve involvement, are all relatively infrequent.
What to Expect After Surgery
- Minimal discomfort
What Procedures Are Combined with a Facelift?
If you are interested in having additional procedures, such as an eyelid lift or brow lift, you can have them completed simultaneously with your facelift. Dr. Duboys can help to create an entire facial rejuvenation plan that will have you looking years younger.
