What is Restylane?
Restylane is a dermal filler used to treat moderate and severe facial folds and wrinkles by restoring fullness and volume.
What can Restylane help treat?
It is particularly useful when it comes to:
- Nasolabial Folds – those lines that start at the nose and extend to the corners of the mouth
- Labiomental Folds – lines starting at the corner of the mouth and extending towards the chin
- Paragraph Folds – curved lines at the corner of the mouth – usually giving a “sad appearance.”
- Lip Enhancement – No other dermal filler has received FDA approval for lip enhancement.
Restylane works by filling in folds and wrinkles using a highly purified form of hyaluronic acid (HA) – a naturally occurring substance in the skin.
What can I expect during treatment?
The treatment is performed in our office exclusively by Elliot B. Duboys, MD and consists of multiple injections to the affected area usually taking approximately 15 minutes.
Will I experience any discomfort during my Restylane treatment?
Since the newest version of Restylane includes xylocaine, a numbing agent, discomfort during the injection is minimal.
Does Restylane have any side effects?
Downtime and complications are minimal. You may experience some redness, swelling, pain, bruising, or tenderness, which usually resolves within 48 hours.
How long do results last after my Restylane injections?
Like any other filler, Restylane is not a permanent solution. Restylane around the mouth typically lasts 7-9 months.
